Preparation Time 15 min
Steaming Time 12 to 15 min
Serving Persons 4 to 6
1 cup APF
1 cup chopped onion
2 cups grated cabbage
1 cup grated carrot
½ cup chopped green capsicum
4 green chili chopped
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
¼ tsp black pepper powder
2 tsp soya sauce
2 tbsp tomato sauce
Salt to taste
2 tsp oil
Add All Purpose Flour(APF),salt and 1 tsp oil,mix well.
Add little by little water and knead to a soft dough.
Rest the dough for 30 min.
Now heat a pan,add rest of oil
When oil is properly hot,add ginger-garlic paste, chopped chili and sauté for few seconds.
Now add chopped onion and sauté this till it turns light pink colour.
Now add rest veggies and stir it for some time.
Let it cook in low flame.
Add soya sauce, tomato sauce, black pepper powder and mix it well.
Let it cool down completely and now add the salt to the mixture.
Now make a lemon size dumpling and roll it into thin circle.
Place a spoon full of veggie mixture at center.
Lift one side of the edge and start pleating.
Start pleating and form the pleats one by one and bring to the center.
Join all the pleats at center and form a momo shape.
In this way make the rest momos.
Meanwhile take 5 to 6 glasses of water and boil it.
Grease the idli mould with oil.
Place each momos in the mould.
When water start boiling place the idli stand and steam it for 15 to 17 min.
Remove the idli stand and take out the steamed momos.
Serve hot with schewzan sauce.
If you want to make it more healthy you can use wheat flour instead of maida.
You can add any veggie, grated paneer of your choice.
If making for kids reduce the chili.
You can use rice cooker also as a steamer.
Add the salt after the veggie mixture cooled down completely otherwise it oozes water.
If steaming in a rice cooker or steamer make sure that keep some space between each momos so that it will not stick to each other.
