You can watch the video recipe here
Believe me friends this idli mix works as a magic…I took this idli mix for my last trip.As we stay outside of India…when we go for a trip the main thing we miss the Indian Food…so I thought to bring this type of instant mix so that we can easily prepare something yummy in less time and spend our trip in happy mood.
This idea of making idli I got from my friend Radha…thanks dear.Few dayz back I posted a recipe of instant idli…so just apply the recipe and pack the dry ingredients.Instant idli is the most demanding recipe in my friend circle…so many friends prepared idli in this way…
When I prepared idli in hotel and posted the pic…it is just most demanding recipe. When I return from my trip friends are asking for the recipe. So what are we waiting for, lets get started
Preparation Time 10 min
Cooking Time 10 to 12 min
Serving Persons 4
For making Idli Mix
½ cup poha
1 cup idli rava
For making Instant Idli
½ cup curd
1 cup water to make batter
1 ENO Sachet
1 tsp lemon juice
Salt to taste
Water to steam idli
Oil to coat the idli mould
For poha powder just take thick poha and grind it to a fine powder.
Take poha powder, idli rava and add curd and water.
Mix this well.
Coat the idli mould with oil.
Now how much batter you need take that much batter and add eno to this with lemon juice.
The batter starts fermenting and rises in volume, mix this well.
Add salt, the batter should be semi thick like our regular idli batter.
The above dry ingredients is for 1 eno sachet…so according to that you can use.
Boil water in rice cooker.
Then fill the moulds with idli batter upto ¾th.
Steam the idli maxium 10 to 12 min.
Just insert a fork or knife to check it is done or not.
If it comes out clean manes the idli is properly steamed.
Serve hot with idli podi,sambaar n chutney…
Now enjoy your instant idli without fermentation…
If you have time you can soak the idli rava, poha powder, curd with water for sometime so that it soaked nicely.
If the curd is more sour skip lemon juice.
Without coating with oil also you can steam idli…in hotel I prepare in this way.
If you are carrying for a trip, you can take a katori or thali also for making idli instead of idli stand.
I have taken my rice cooker as it is easy to handle in hotel…but you can steam in a big vessel also.
If you are steaming in gas flame make the flame high.
Fill the batter upto ¾ th in the mould as it is steamed it rises…so it may stick to the upper mould.
Just before putting the batter in mould add eno…as its effect will gone quickly,so do batch wise.
