Hi friendz,today I will show you how to make alooka bharta in oriya style…in our home. It is so simple to prepare and made in less time.Last week my husband is not feeling well,so he wants something different item.In morning I have prepared his favourite segdalu to make him happy and as it is fried…I thought to prepare something simple in lunch…so prepared this.This one also one of his favourite aloo recipe

Ingredients

2 medium size potatoes boiled
1 big garlic clove chopped
1 medium onion chopped
1 medium tomato chopped
2 green chili
4 tsp mustard seeds
½  tsp moong dal
a pinch of asafoetida
1 whole red chili broken into pieces
1 tsp mustard oil
6-8 curry leaves
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
¼ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste

Procedure

Peel the potatoes and mash it so that it has some chunks.
Heat oil,when it is hot add mustard seeds,moon dal,red chili n asafoetida.
When mustard seeds start crackle,add chopped garlic.
When garlic turns golden colour,add curry leaves,green chili with onion.
Add a pinch of salt so that onion is cooked faster.
Now add the chopped tomatoes and mix it well.
Cover with a lid and cook it till this gets a mushy texture.
Now add salt,turmeric powder to this,mix well.
Add mashed potatoes to this and mix it.
Cook for some time covering the lid.
Then add chopped coriander leaves and mix it.
Turn off flame,serve hot with rice,roti,puri…

Notes
 
Always boil the potatoes just one day before and keep in freeze,in this way it is less sticky, has less moisture and easy to peel.
You can use udad dal also instead of moong dal,I have used for more better option.
You can use any normal cooking oil also.
Crush the garlic clove and then chop,in this way it has more flavour.
