Ingredients

2 medium potatoes boiled in salt water
½ cup chana soaked n then boiled in salt water
1 medium onion chopped
2 medium tomatoes chopped
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
2 green chili slitted
1 tsp coriander powder
½ tsp garam masala
¼ tsp cumin powder
¼ tsp red chili powder
¼ tsp kashmiri red chili powder
¼ tsp cumin seeds
a pinch of asafoetida
2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
1 tbsp mustard oil
black salt to taste

Procedure

Heat oil , add ucmin seeds n asafoetid.
Then add ginger-garlic paste with green chili n sauté for few seconds.
Next goes in chopped onion with a pinch of salt so that onion is cooked faster.
When onion turn into golden colour, add chopped tomatoes n cook it till it turns into a paste consistency.
Now add all spices to this.
Peel the boiled potatoes n cut into cubes.
Add boiled chana n potato cubes to this and mix it well.
Add little water so that the masala is well coated with aloo n chana.
Finally add chopped coriander leaves.
Garnish with some chopped onion and lemon juice, it tastes awesome.

Notes

If you feel the onion tomato masala is not well coated with chana n aloo, add some water .
If you wish to make gravy type, you can add more hot water…it well goes with vada, puri n upma…
If you don’t ike the flavour of mustard oil, you can use any normal cooking oil.
