This is the powder I think in all Odia household have. I personally use in most of my odia recipes lie dalma,dahibara aloodum,chaat etc.Sometimes I use this in pizza and sandwiches also.So let get started this easy recipe..you can store this in an air tight container for months also…

With this recipe I have shown Manabasa Gurubar Pooja in our home.In Odisha in  Margashir Month,on each Thursday Lakshmi Pooj is done,we put rangolis made of khadi powder in whole house,balcony…in this time all odia houses look so beautiful…actually first geru is coated on the floor it is a maroon colour clay…soak in water to make it in liquid form.Then it is applied on floor,on walls also in different shapes.

When it is dried,the rangolis are done…so the designs look more prominent…during our childhood time we sisters put so many rangolis specially lotus flower,elephants as it is favourite of Goddess Lakhsmi…it is like a competition that which home looks more beautiful…so many dishes are prepared…

As we stay outside India,whatever possible for me I am doing…this time I dint get geru so brought the khadi.And made the rangolis on tables,some plywood of my drawer…made some dishes like puri,curry,chenna poda…read Lakshmi Puran and did pooja

Prpearation Time 2 min
Cooking Time   5 to 7 min

Ingredients

1/2 cup cumin seeds

12 to 15 whole red chili

Procedure

First sauté the cumin seeds in low flame.
When it is little roasted,you can smell a roasted cumin seed flavour.
It is done,remove to a plate.
Now in the same pan,roast the whole red chili till it is little crispy.
Make cumin seeds and red chili to cool down.
Grind to a rough form and store in an air tight container.

Notes

remove the stem of whole red chili before grinding.
If the red chili is little big,break into two pieces,it is easy to grind.
When the cuminseed n red chili sauté done,make it cool down.
Then it is more easy to grind.
If you want to make cumin powder then grind the cuminseds to full powder form.
You can make seprate red chili flakes also in this way.
Saute all in low flame,otherwise it is get burnt.
Saute both separately,as the time and size is different.
If you like more spicy,increase amount of chili…vicecersa.
