Nariyal Chutney recipe in hindi/SouthIndian coconut chuntey for idli,dosa hotel style roshniscuisine
This is a famous south indian chutney…goes well with dosa,idli,vada…my husband dear likes this with chapathi also…so lets get started with this simple recipe

Preparation Time 10 min
Grinding and Cooking Time 10 min
Serving Persons 4
1 cup coconut chunks
½ cup chutney chana dal
½ tsp cumin seeds
1 inch ginger chopped
2 green chili cut into halves
1 big clove garlic cut into chunks
Salt to taste
1½ cup water
2 tsp oil
½ tsp mustard seeds
¼ tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp moong dal
1 whole red chili
a pinch of asafetida
12-15 curry leaves
Take all the ingredients except tadka part except salt,grind to a smooth paste.
Add half quantity first,make a paste.
Add salt to the chutney.
Now heat a tadka pan,add oil.
When oil start heatng,add all tadka ingredients except curry leaves.
When moong dal starts golden colour,add curry leaves.
Now add this to coconut chutney.
Serve with idli,vada,dosa or any of your choice tiffin item.
You can use coconut oil instead of normal cooking oil for tadka.
You can replace udad dal instead of moong dal.
Grated coconut also can be used instead of chunks.
You can have coconut chutney without tadka also.
Add tamarind for a sour taste.
You can skip garlic and make this for pooja day.
If you want you can grind to a rough paste also.
You can vary the quantity of water as per your chutney consisitency.
You can add curry leaves as it is to chutney or make tadka and add.
