Neer Dosa I Besan Dhara Curry I Chana Dal Chutney I Indian Breakfast I roshniscuisine

Today breakfast menu is Neer Dosa n Curry and thought to send the neer dosa for Hubby office lunch box.  His south indian frndz like chutney with dosa so thought to add chutney with the menu. And here is the complete video…So lets get started

Neer Dosa


2 cups raw rice
3 green chili
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 inch ginger chopped(optional)
1 tsp sesame seeds
water as required
oil for making dosa
salt to taste


Soak rice for 4 hours or if you are planning to make for breakfast soak this overnight.

Add ginger,green chili n cumin seeds to the rice.

Grind to a smooth paste.

Add salt,sesame seeds n sufficient amount of water.(So it is called neer dosa)

It requires an ample amount of water…the consistency of batter is like flowing water…

Heat tawa n spread oil all over.

Take a big spoon of batter n spread all over tawa in high flame.

Make flame to medium n cover the lid for 1 min.

Remove the lid, you can observe the dosa is little shrink from all sides…so its ready.

It is little soft comparing to our regular remove it carefully using a thin spatula, otherwise it may break.

Besan Dhara Curry


2 medium onion sliced
1 medium potato cut into stripes
3 medium tomato sliced
2 green chili slitted
2 tbsp chana dal
2 tbsp besan
1 tsp dhania powder
½ tsp garam masala
¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp kashmiri red chili powder
2 tsp oil
½ tsp mustard seeds
¼ tsp cumin seeds
1 whole red chili broken into two pieces
a pinch of asafoetida
Salt to taste
Water to make gravy and besan paste


Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chili and asafoetida.
When mustard seeds start crackle, add green chili and all veggie with chana dal, and mix it well.
Due to chana dal you will get crunchy bite.
Cook this also in low flame.
Now add all spices.
Mix it well and cook it by covering the lid.
After few minutes remove the lid, add hot water and bring it to a boil.
Pressure cook for one whistle.
Meanwhile make a batter of besan and water, pour the batter in curry and continuously stir it.
Now boil it for 1 to 2 min, its done.

ChanaDal Chutney


1/2  cup chana dal

¼ cup coconut

1 big garlic clove

½  inch ginger

4  green chili

¼ tsp cumin seeds

water to make the chutney

Salt to taste

For Tadka

 1 tsp oil

½  tsp mustard seeds

½ tsp udad dal
¼ tsp cumin seeds

a pinch of asafoetida

10-12 curry leaves



Dry roast the chana dal for 4-5 min in low flame.

Then add all the rest ingredients to this and  water make a smooth thick paste.

Remove to a bowl…how much constiency you want, by adding water you can adjust.

Now prepare the tadka.

Heat oil, add all tadka ingredients.

When mustard seeds start crackle and udad dal turns light golden colour, add the sizzling tadka to chutney and mix it well.

Its Done…
