I made chana aloo curry for breakfast with puri,upma n chutney.Little bit left so thought to makechaat with this.And you know friends my husband always prepares the chaat.So casually husband asked me if you want little lemon juice and as I was having curd rice …I told him yah skip the curd and lemon juice and the way he prepared on that day it tastes same as our ghuguni chaat . Just relish my Odisha street ghuguni chaat…after a long dayz.
Only the missing thing is nimki but still it tastes awesome.So thought to prepare nimki before recording this recipe video…so lets get stated

Ingredients Required
For Ghuguni
2 cups boiled matar-aloo
1 big onion chopped
2 green chili
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tsp coriander powder
½ tsp cumin powder
½ tsp garam masala
½ tsp red chili powder
1 tbsp besan
1 tsp oil
Water to make the gravy and besan slurry
Salt to taste
For Chaat
8 to 9 odia nimki
1 medium onion finely chopped
1 medium tomato finely chopped
1 green chili finely chopped
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
½ tsp red chili powder
1 tsp lemon juice
Black salt for garnishing
mixture or sev for garnishing
chaat masala for garnishing
Procedure
Soak the matar(yellow peas) for 6 to 7 hours.
Then add one medium potato cubes to this,salt,1/4 tsp turmeric powder and ¼ tsp of oil and pressure cook it for 3 to 4 whistles.
Noe healt oil in a pan,add cumin seeds and ginger-garlic paste.
Saute this for 30 seconds and then add chopped onion with a pinch of salt so that onion is cooked faster.
When onion turns to light golden colour add all masalas and let it cook for some time.
Add boiled matar-aloo to this and mix it well.
Add hot water to this…and let it boil for some time.
Make a slurry of besan by adding water to this.
When the curry starts boiling add the slurry and let it cook for 2 min.
It thickens the curry.
Now the chaat preparation time.
Take 3 to 4 big spoon of curry into a plate,crush the nimki on this.
Add onion,tomatoes n green chili with little black salt.
Sprinkle red chili powder.
Then top with lots of mixture.
Finally garnish with chopped coriander leaves,chaat masala and lemon juice…and enjoy Odia Style Ghuguni Chaat.
Notes
You can use small nimki(diamond shape) or papdi also instead of nimki.
You can add little curd and sweet chutney…but we prefer in this way.
By adding besan slurry the curry is little thick in consistency and enhance the flavour.
Add hot water to the boiled matar-aloo mixture instead of normal water …it enhance the flavour
