This is a famous recipe of Maharashtra.You know friends this recipe I learnt first time from my husband dear.When we moved to Pune adter marriage,he prepared this for me n Iiked it so much.After that I make some alteration and follow some tips a nd tricks,so the whole process with all tips I share with you.

But now the process is reversed,after some dayz I will travel to India,so he is telling me to teach poha…ha ha ha

Ingredients

 

2 cups of poha

3 medium onion chopped

1 small tomato deseeded and chopped

2 tbsp of peanuts

3-4 green chili chopped

12-15 curry leaves

 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

1/4 tsp red chili powder

1/3 tsp kashmiri red chili powder

1/2 tsp sugar

Salt to taste

1 tsp mustard seeds

a pinch of asafoetida

1 tbsp lemon juice

2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

sev for garnishing

3 tbsp oil

Procedure

Heat oil in a frypan.
When oil is properly hot,add peanuts and sauté till it is crunchy.
Now add mustard seeds and asafetida to this.
I forgot to add asafetida while doing recording,so add it later.
When mustard seeds start crackle,add chopped green chili n curry leaves,sauté for few econds.
Now add the chopped onion with salt and sugar.
Due to salt,it is cooked faster and by adding sugar we get a caramelized flavour.
When onion turns to pinkish in colour,add all the spices ,mix it well.
Now add the poha and mix it with onion mixture.
Here I add little water like 2 to 3 tbsp and cook it in low flame by covering the lid.
After some time,you can observe poha is cooked properly.
Here we add the tomatoes ,coriander leaves and lemon juice.
Switch off the flame and cover the lid,keep for some time as it is.
Serve hot  as breakfast or healthy snacks…

Notes

Adding of sugar is completely optional,If you don’t prefer skip it.
If you feel the poha is more harder then soak the poha with little water,if it is medium hard,then strain the water and soak it as it is.
After washing the poha,strain the water and soak it as it is.
In this way it is soft ,fluffy and not stick to each other.
Always soak the poha with covering a lid,so that it will not dry.
After adding lemon juice switch off the flame,otherwise it is bitter in taste.
