This recipe is so easy to prepare n yet so flavourful with less ingredients . So new to me and in first trial only I liked it so much…little left I just had with rice he he. This one I got to know from Hubby dear…he is having lunch with his southindian friends…so one of his collegue Murli ji brought this chutney…always my husband compliments the chutney. So thought to know the recipe from my friend swapna…whose magical hands with this chutney. Its so simple to prepare I made the video in first trial only and believe me I just love this chutney…thanks Swapna dear for this yummy chutney recipe. So this one is dedicated to her…lets get started
She was asking me whether I prepared this recipe or not ,but from long time I am not getting fresh turai, so this time I got and did the recording too . I asked her what it is called in telugu so that I got the actual name…so I mentioned in title.
Preparation Time 10 min
Cooking Time 8 to 10 min
Serving Persons 2 to 3
Ingredients Required
2-3 medium length soft turai
(beerakai/ridgegourd)
1 medium tomatoes cut into chunks
3 green chili slitted
1 tsp chopped garlic
1 tsp tamarind(seedless)
2 tsp chana dal
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp moong dal
½ tsp cumin seeds
1 whole red chili
10-12 curry leaves
Salt to taste
1 tbsp oil
Procedure
Cut both the ends of turai and peel the outer cover and cut into big chunks.
Heat 2 tsp oil and add the turai chunks with pinch of salt…let it cook till the moisture dry up.
Add green chili, sauté for few seconds.
Then add tomato cubes and let it cook till it comes to mushy texture.
Now add tamarind n garlic and sauté.
Let it cool down and grind to a puree form.
Now the tadka part…heat rest oil.
Add chana dal.mustard seeds,cumin seeds,udad dal,red chili n curry leaves….
When mustard seeds start crackle add this to chuntey .
Its done, have this simple mixing with rice….
Notes
If the turai is soft no need to peel it…as any way all is grinded to a puree form.
If it is little hard just peel the harder outer cover.
Some people prepare chutney with the peel of turai only…it is also tasty.
Actually my friend told to add green chili first and make it crispy, but I forgot so I added it later.
