This one all time breakfast dish in every indian kitchen

Also very easy to prepare in less time


1 cup sooji/rawa

1 tbsp sawei/vermicelli

2 green chilis slited

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

1/4 tsp cumin seeds

1/4 tsp udad dal

1/2 tsp chana dal

10 curry leaves

1 1/2 tsp oil

3 cups water

salt to taste


Dry roast sooji in medium flame stir continuously.

After 4-5 min it becomes golden color ,switch off the flame.

Now in a fry pan heat oil ,add mustard seeds, cumin seeds , udad dal.

When mustard seeds starts crackle add green chilly , chana dal ,curry leaves and sawei.

Stir it till chana dal n sawei turns folden color.

Chanadal gives crunchy taste to upma.

Now add water and salt.

When water starts boiling pour roasted sooji and stir simultaneously.

Otherwise it will form gutli.

Now stir it properly.

Serve this with chutney or curry.
