Prepare raita by whisking the curd and add black salt, chat masala n sugar powder with one green chili.
Soak the sliced onion in water so that its spiceness reduced.
Then add this to curd mixture n keep in fridge to chill.
Serve hot with chilled onion raita.
Notes
You can add veggie of your choice ,add some paneer too,ginger-garlic paste also.
If you are preparing in a pan, just sauté the veggie and whole spices for some time and add it.
I follow the process how hubby dear told.
You can use any regular rice like poni rice, sona masoori rice instead of basmati , the water quantity is more comparing to basmati one.
I soak the basmati rice in the required amount of water so that the rice is well soaked.
I have added 1.8 cup water for 1 cup basmati rice as water comes out from veggie too.
