Saku with Curry


Its generally available in border area of Odissa n Andhra…When more guests come its a rescue recipe to prepare…


For Saku

1 cup udad dal

2 n 1/2 cups rice

8-10 methi seeds

salt to taste

oil for coating

For Curry

1 tsp oil

2 med onion thick sliced

2 med brinjal cut into cubes

2 med tomatoes cut into cubes

1 green chili slitted

1 tsp gg paste

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp red chili powder

1 tsp garam masala

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

1/4 tsp cumin seeds

Salt to taste

1 tbsp Chopped coriander leaves


For Saku

Soak rice n udad dal for 4 hours.

Make a smooth paste of udad dal n coarse paste of rice.

Now mix dal paste to rice paste.

Set for fermentation overnight.

Apply oil in frypan n pour the batter on it about one inch thick.

Cover the lid n bake it till it becomes golden brown in colour.

Make it cool down n turn into a plate.

Cut into pieces as like a cake.

Now for curry part…

Heat oil n add broken red chili, mustard seeds n cumin seeds.

When mustard seeds start crackle add gg paste n all veggies with chana daal.

Now add all spices n saute for 2 min.

Add hot water n gv one siti in cooker in high flame.

Turn off gas n remove the lid when all pressure gone.

Boil the curry n add chopped coriander leaves.

Serve hot with saku.
